Hellova Street ($4.80) showed brilliant early speed to lead and when rider Dean Holland called on the Scott Brinton-trained gelding to extend he left his rivals in his wake and went on to score comfortably from Mubakkir and Zebrinz.
“I am so proud of this horse because it’s never easy to come across the water and win Listed races but this horse deserves it,” Brunton said.
“He’s done a great job at home winning the two feature weight-for-age races this season but he should be spending a bit more time here in Melbourne.
Holland has a great record oi n Hellova Street having ridden him four times for three wins with his first two victories in the 2014 and 2015 Newmarket handicaps with his only other ride resulting in a sixth in this season’s Newmarket.
Hellova Street has the imposing record of 28 starts for 13 wins and 10 minor placings for almost $600,000 in stakes.
Brunton is unsure of Hellova Street’s immediate future but one option would be to leave the gelding in Melbourne for one more start before returning to his Seven Mile Beach stables.
