Electric Crimson to be aimed at St Leger

Courtesy of Tasracing.com.au - 29/03/16. ELECTRIC CRIMSON made it a hat trick of wins when he careered away from his rivals to take out the Hardings Hotmix Pty Ltd Easter Cup over 1880 metres at Spreyton yesterday to inspire thoughts of winning the St Leger in May.

It was almost a replica of his previous win in Launceston where he trailed the lead to the turn before powering away from his rivals in the home straight.

The Scott Brunton-trained gelding was having his first start on the synthetic Spreyton track but he seemed to relish the surface and connections will no doubt be excited about his St Leger prospects as he gives the impression he will appreciate the 2400 metres of that race.

Electric Crimson had won a BM62 and BM72 over 2100 metres at his two previous outings in Launceston.

"The horse is flying and we are hoping to aim him at the St Leger (2400m) in Launceston in May," Brunton said.

"He keeps improving with every run and provided we can keep him in this form he will give the St Leger a real shake," he said.
