At the TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston on Wednesday night the David and Scott Brunton-trained mare showed the courage that has taken her to three wins from only five starts over three preparations.

With stable rider Patrick Keane in the saddle, Devil's Tears ($4.60) raced handy to the lead and booted clear at the top of the home straight.

She then had to fend off determined challenges but she refused to wilt and hit the line a narrow winner over Viva La Witch and Refuse To Lose with another talented mare Shipspotting a close-up fourth.

Devil's Tears won first-up from a spell in Hobart and showed the same grit as she was clearly headed close to home in that race but fought back to win.

Keane said it was s similar effort at this latest outing.

"This mare is courageous and she definitely showed that again tonight," Keane said.

One of the mare's part-owners Richie Robinson was ecstatic after the race.

"To be a part of this mare is so exciting," Robinson said.

"We were involved in a horse with the Bruntons but we lost him so they asked us if we would like to race this mare and that's how we came to be racing Devil's Tears, he said.

Devil's Tears (Savoire Vivre-Cragganmore) is likely to progress through her classes this preparation with no feature races in mind.
