Courtesy of Tasracing.com.au - 09/06/13 - PATIENCE is one of the many virtues leading trainers David and Scott Brunton rely on to stay at the top of the training tree in Tasmania and that certainly applied to three-year-old filly Devil's Tears (Savoire Vivre-Cragganmore) that scored her maiden win in Hobart today.
Devil's Tears was having her first start from a five-month spell but went into the race on the back of an impressive trial win in Hobart three weeks ago.
With ace rider Patrick Keane aboard, Devil's Tears began brilliantly and courtesy of a planned move to head to the outside fence in the back straight, the filly established a handy lead and when she crossed back to the inside fence she sped clear and went on to score convincingly from fist-starter Extravagant Eagle with Bachelor's Life a close-up third.
Devil's Tears was a post yearling-sale purchase for $13,000 and while she has taken a while to come to hand the filly could eventually repay her owner.
