TALENTED three-year-old What Life Brings showed plenty of character to snare victory in yesterday's Listed $90,000 Betfair Hobart Guineas (2100m) at Elwick.
The David and Scott Brunton trained gelding settled seventh following the speed set by Beer Belly and Alarmist, before improving his position prior to the home straight.
What Life Brings ($2.80) and and Kenjorwood ($2.50f) engaged in a dual up the home straight, and with 200 metres to travel it appeared as though Kenjorwood was going to gain the upper hand.
However, What Life Brings - who was ridden by Brendon McCoull - responded and went on to defeat Kenjorwood by a long neck, with Ollie's Gold third.
Even Betfair punters were keen to take $1.01 about Kenjorwood over the concluding stages, while What Life Brings was matched at $50 during in-play betting.
Scott Brunton praised McCoull) following the race.
"I must admit that was a beautiful ride," Brunton said.
"It was an awesome win and a huge thrill for the family. "I'm not certain if this horse will go on to the Derby because it wasn't really on our radar, he may head to the paddock."
Scott's mother Julie was equally impressed by the courageous win.
"This is a really special win for us as we raced the mother [Sinizzor] as well," she said.
"Ian [Anderson] bred Sinizzor and he also races this horse, it's just a really special day for everyone involved."
Jockey McCoull was impressed by the stamina displayed by the winner.
"He's ultra-consistent and deserved to win a big race like this," he said.
"He settled beautifully and was strong on the line."
What Life Brings (Savoire Vivre-Sinizzor) is a full brother to Life To The Full and is owned by Bruce Craig, Ian Anderson, Peter Ross and Dave Brunton.
