Courtesy of Tasracing 07/12/12 - THE state's leading training combination of David and Scott Brunton revealed their long-range plan for well bred three-year-old filly Brinktop after she scored a very impressive win at The TOTE Racing Centre in Launceston on Wednesday night.
Brinktop (Savoire Vivre-Wicked Intention x Ladoni) barged her way clear of the pack close to home to record a convincing win over Kobble Creek and Tabucha in the Southern Cross 3YO and Upwards Maiden Plate over 1200 metres.
It was the filly's second outing this preparation. She finished sixth in Launceston on November 21 and beaten nearly four lengths in what was her first run back from a spell in which she had no luck when caught three-wide for much of the journey from a wide barrier.
But she made amends and looked good in scoring comfortably and in a handy time.
"This filly is hopefully Oaks-bound," said co-trainer Scott Brunton.
"She has shown us above average ability from day one and we definitely won't see the best of her until she gets over a bit of ground," he said.
Brinktop is likely to have her next start in the $25,000 3YO Trophy over 1400 metres in Launceston on December 19.
