Premier training partnership of David and Scott Brunton won three of the first four races at the TRC's "Think Pink Day" at Elwick last Sunday. The day, which raised over $30,000 for breast cancer research, kicked off in fine style for the stable with King Casper finishing strongly to win the 1400m maiden, with Anthony Darmanin aboard. Sunday's win was only the fourth start for this five year old son of Monde Bleu and he looks to have a bright future.
The two year old maiden over 1100m was taken out by stable representative, Royal Rapture. With Stephen Maskiell riding, the Clangalang colt lead throughout in what was an outstanding effort for a horse having his first race start.
The final leg of the treble came in the 1100m Class 1, with four year old mare, Una Dawn, sustaining a wide run throughout to win the event, with stable mate Manhattan Rose finishing nicely along the fence to grab third. Una Dawn was ridden cleverly by 3kg claiming apprentice Erhan Kacmaz, taking advantage of his gate and the better going out wide on the track.
With only one meeting remaining, the Brunton's, with 71 winners for season, have once again dominated the state's training ranks with an impressive winning strike rate of 18% and accumulating $1.3M in stakes for their owners.
